The MTA has promised that no Queens bus rider currently paying one fare for their trip will have to pay two fares because of the route changes in the Queens Bus Network Redesign. Yet the MTA has still not compiled a list of additional free transfer points necessary to ensure this, despite the plan's implementation rapidly approaching.
It has unfortunately become necessary to put the MTA on notice. We have compiled a list of every additional free transfer necessary for the MTA to fulfill its promise and remain in compliance with Title VI on that front. The MTA has until May 28 (the date of its next board meeting) to avoid additional legal action being taken by either adding these free transfers to the Queens Bus Network Redesign plan or implementing a universal second transfer policy.
