We Are Everyday Commuters
Making a Difference for Everyday Commuters

We are the leading grassroots advocates in New York City and the Tri-State Area for true equity, accessibility, safety and sustainability in our public transportation. By elevating the voices of underserved and disenfranchised commuters, and, with empathy, research, education, proactive leadership and coalition building, we strive to improve the quality of life for everyone.

Passengers United is volunteer-driven, powered by everyday New Yorkers who regularly use mass transit to live and work. Our team is dedicated to making our mass transit better for everyone, putting your needs and concerns first and foremost. Our work includes, among much more, mobilizing communities throughout the region and raising your important issues with our MTA and government officials to ensure that all community members, especially those who are disenfranchised and/or in more vulnerable situations, are heard and represented. In doing so, we maintain independence from corporate and special interest groups as we humbly serve with love and dedication, keeping our mission — to make public transit better for everyone — at our forefront of our efforts.

Advocacy in Action:

When a months-long service outage began, we stepped in to help guide passengers and urged the MTA to provide better customer service.
We are the only nonprofit that has engaged the ridership and lifted their voices and concerns during the MTA's Bus Network Redesign initiatives.
We also stand in solidarity with our transit workers. If they're not treated properly, there becomes a ripple effect that adversely affects the riders.
After a deadly fight at a station in Queens, we showed up at the scene to demand better safety conditions and to provide support to the community.
